Kanchana Pitham

A basic groundwork to deconstruct the internet-made clay house.

Who Is Ucchishta Ganapati?

He is the Parabrahma swarupa who, with constant rubbing on the yoni of his shakti with his trunk, brings creation. This creation falls under the concept “Ananda”.

He is like an elephant intoxicated to the extent that it perpetually remains in the state of unmatta (divine ecstasy). In that state, it cannot see who or what stands before it.

As we previously highlighted in our foundational study of Ucchishta Ganapati, this is precisely where the grave danger lies for those attempting to engage with this upasana through surface-level internet information. A man who truly knows how to handle such a wild, intoxicated elephant alone can hold your hand and teach you step-by-step to handle this mad elephant without getting destroyed.

It is plain common sense: the more you desire to remain in contact with any powerful force, the greater the dangers involved for you.

Now, this sacred vidya has become another commercial business in the hands of modern jyotishas and social media influencers to hand out the internet-available Ucchishta Ganapati navakshari mantra indiscriminately to everyone.

Who Is Eligible to Do Ucchishta Ganapati Upasana?

The only person eligible for this vidya is the one who is already established on the authentic path of upasana under a Nija Guru—not someone picking up mantras from text, digital PDFs, or random individuals posing as “siddhas” or “avadhutas.”

This sensational storytelling may work for podcasts and social media feeds, but it will never work in Atmika (internal spiritual reality).

Is Ucchishta Ganapati Upasana to Be Done Mandatorily with Women?

Mantra-Tantra Shastra gives us numerous mantras to worship this Parabrahma swarupa. Every mantra operates under a distinct vidhi and rule of worship.

Even exalted Mahapurushas such as Sugriva, Sri Rama, Anjaneya, and Vibhishana engaged in Ucchishta Ganapati upasana. Do you think Bhagavan Ramachandra engaged with another woman to perform this upasana? If you entertain such an idea even for a moment, you fail the very definition of dharma.

Anjaneya is a nitya brahmachari—how could he ever engage with a woman in such a manner?

Authentic knowledge arises only when we learn from the truly learned. If we seek spiritual knowledge from podcasters or content creators, what you absorb will ultimately make you forget what Sanatana Dharma actually is.

In our technical expositions on Aghora Ganapati Vidya and Tantric Tattvas and the role of fearlessness in Tantric Sadhana, we established that devatas operate strictly within designated acharas. As examined in our technical study of Aghora Ganapati, astra-swarupa deities act as precise weapons, whereas Ucchishta Ganapati is the pinnacle of ananda-swarupa. Out of several mantras of Ucchishta Ganapati, only one specific mantra is practiced under Vamachara—and even that is not mandatory.

How to Undertake Ucchishta Ganapati Upasana?

First and foremost: step out of your comfort zone. Find an authentic Nija Guru. Prove your worth through dedicated guru seva and offering guru dakshina—proving your guru bhakti through concrete actions. Guru bhakti in words alone is like soil without fertility; it will not sustain you in the sacred darbars of a true master.

Once you enter the traditional path, remember that it is a long, disciplined journey. You cannot ignore the ground floor and leap straight to the 13th floor. You must cross all preceding floors to enter the 13th floor:

Applying basic common sense makes understanding spirituality very straightforward. Unfortunately, the greed of attaining everything without putting in the required effort masks one’s common sense.

Is Ucchishta Ganapati Upasana to Be Done Only at Midnight?

Another widespread internet misinformation. Ucchishta Ganapati is properly worshipped in the early morning at dawn (Pratah Kala).

Before the puja or japa begins, he must be worshipped with this sacred dhyana mantra:

Meaning of the Dhyana Shloka

  • Verse 1: At dawn, I remember Gananatha, the companion and protector of the helpless, whose pair of cheeks is beautifully adorned by the fullness of elephant-like splendour. He wields a mighty and fierce staff that utterly destroys formidable obstacles, and He is worshipped by Indra and the assembly of foremost celestial leaders.
  • Verse 2: At dawn, I bow to Him who is worshipped by Brahma, who bestows every boon that is desired and favourable. I bow to that pot-bellied Lord, whose sacred thread is the lord of serpents, who is the son of Shiva and Shivaa, and who is skilful in divine sportive manifestations.
  • Verse 3: At dawn, I worship the Lord who grants fearlessness, who is indeed the forest fire that consumes the sorrows of His devotees, the sovereign of the Ganas, and the one with the splendid face of an elephant. I worship that divine son of Ishvara, who is the sacrificial fire that destroys the forest of ignorance and who increases enthusiasm and spiritual vigour.

See! He has to get worshipped in the morning. In fact, under the discipline of Ucchishta Ganapati upasana, there are even strict shastric rules determining what type of water one must use for bathing.

The Unique Bali Krama in Ucchishta Ganapati Puja

One of the unique aspects of Ucchishta Ganapati puja is its bali krama.

In many other puja procedures, the bali krama is performed after the main puja. However, in Ucchishta Ganapati puja, bali krama is observed both before and after the main puja.

This distinctive feature itself shows why one cannot approach his upasana by blindly applying the procedures of other devatas or relying on information gathered from the internet. Every upasana has its own krama, and understanding that krama requires proper guidance from the nija guru.

Ucchishta Ganapati Navakshari Purascharana

Here is a sample of his upasana discipline, specifically for his famous Navakshari Mantra:

If a practitioner, after practicing for some time, wishes to undertake the purascharana, he must first convey his wish to his Guru. The Guru will then determine and fix the suitable date to start.

On the third day before the purascharana begins, one should get his head shaved (tonsure) and perform bodily purification. Then, one must perform prayaschitta kriyas with Vishnu puja, Vishnu tarpana, Vishnu shraddha, homa, and chandrayana vrata. These are all required to purify the sadhaka before entering his purascharana.

If one cannot perform this extensive sequence, there is an alternate purification factor which the Guru administers by transmitting a specific mantra that purifies the aspirant to undertake this purascharana of Ucchishta Ganapati.

Purification Before Purascharana

Purification—both internal and external—is strictly mandatory for any upasana. Weighed down by sins, a man can NEVER enter the holy abode. If an aspirant wishes to enter the holy realm, he must fear his sins. If anyone claims, “I am not afraid of anything,” he is merely a fool masquerading in ochre robes or black cloth.

During this purification phase, the practitioner must maintain a strict vrata with either complete fasting, consuming only milk, or taking a single daily meal of ghee rice.

Ayuta Gayatri Japa Before Purascharana

Once all preparatory purification is completed, before the date of purascharana, one must chant 10,000 counts of the Vedic Gayatri Mantra (Ayuta Gayatri Japa) to earn the adhikara to perform the purascharana of his mantra.

Let it be any upasana—including the most famous Bhairava, Kali, Tara, or Chinnamasta—if one ignores the Vedic Gayatri mantra, he remains totally unfit to enter any higher path. As demonstrated in the sacred traditions of the Shrividya Samputita Ganapati Atharvasheersham, genuine tantric vidyas are inextricably anchored in Vedic authority. Never bring podcast theories into our comments section; our team will promptly block you from visiting our site.

This is the sankalpa mantra to begin this ayuta gayatri japa before the day of purascharana:

——देश ——कालौ सङ्कीर्त्यज्ञाताज्ञातपापक्षयार्थं करिष्यमाणोच्छिष्टगणेशपुरश्चरणाधिकारार्थममुकमन्त्रेण सिद्ध्यर्थं च गायत्र्ययुतजपमहं करिष्ये

Then, one must offer tarpanam to Vishvamitra Maharishi, Gayatri Chandas, and Savita Devi.

The Night Before Purascharana

Once this is done, on that night, the sadhaka must constantly contemplate the lotus feet of Sriman Narayana.

Again, ignoring Mahavishnu under the delusion that Bhairava is superior, Kali is superior, or Shiva is superior is yet another modern internet nonsense. If you ignore Mahavishnu, you ignore every form of Swamy and Amba. We must give reverent value to every form of the Divine.

Next, the practitioner must chant a specific japa of 108 counts praying to Chandogra Shulapani while seated on a mat woven from sacred darbha grass. Until the purascharana concludes, one must sleep only on this darbha mat.

During that night, the practitioner will receive dreams—either auspicious or inauspicious. He must explain this dream faithfully to his Guru. That dream is the decisive sign indicating whether the time has arrived to enter the gates of his purascharana or not.

In this manner, all his mantras have their specific rules. Only one mantra is an exception to these rules, and fortunately, that mantra is not available on the internet.

Learn Ucchishta Ganapati Upasana from a Guru

Before you venture into the deep sea, instead of merely listening to talks about sea travel, watch the sailors. Approach experienced sailors. Prove your worth to learn from them. Only then sail your ship into the sea—do not merely imagine sailing a ship.

Can Women Undertake Ucchishta Ganapati Upasana?

Can women perform this upasana?

Will she tonsure her head and maintain the rigorous austerities required to walk this specific path? While the inner vidya does not discriminate on soul, certain preliminary bodily rules can be followed strictly only by men. A woman tonsuring her head is not considered aligned with dharma, even though it has become part of modern spiritual theatrics on social media.

The Truth About Discipline, Effort, and Spiritual Attainment

No discipline, no results. No effort, no attainment. The expectation of extraordinary spiritual rewards with minimal effort is nothing but laziness and greed—and this very human weakness is constantly exploited by podcasters, digital content creators, and self-proclaimed Gurujis and Swamijis.
